Karuso howled for attention. The wolves of Mistypack were thinner than before. The majority of the food they caught was given to the guards and food was getting scarce as winter closed in. Several wolves, including Rawen, Nanami and Shur`tugal were locked in The Pens--prisoners for stealing prey to feed themselves and others.
The pack gathered. Some defiant, some shivering, not even caring, and others like Saharah just had a dull submission.
"I have decided to revoke the rule of no two wolves together by themselves." he barked, giving his typical winning smile and almost looking friendly. Saharah glanced around. How long had it been sense she had spoken with Shenzi? How many long moons had passed sense she left Yeti? How many pawcounts of moons had it been sense she was the alpha and the pack was thriving? She looked back at the ground. Her ribs stuck out and her eyes were sunken in. Her fur was matted in areas and she looked purely defeated. The pack all looked similar to their former alpha. Covered in dirt, matted fur, thin and gaunt.
Wolves stood beside each other. Murmurs broke out as they conversed again. Karuso dipped his head and went into his den, beconing to Oki.
Saharah staggered to the edge of the camp. The days were getting colder. She felt the recurring hunger that had grown to be a part of her. It gnawed at her. Saharah shut her eyes...she could hardly remember now what those days of happiness had been. Her life before the tribe. Before starvation. Before uprights. Before Yeti...before she had become alpha...Back when her life was simple. When she bounced and bounded along through the forest, wondering what would happen next and loving every moment of exhileration in a fight. Her coat had been a gorgeous tan and brown color tinged with black and silver. Her eyes had sparkled. She had met Yeti and they had a litter of pups. Talking by the stream with Shenzi, her best friend. Raising her pups and training them. Had she not once thought life was glorious? That it could in no way get even better? She felt a cold breeze and opened her eyes. Rasho and Shade were beside each other once more. Shade had been such a good influence on Rasho...They both still looked strong. They had continued forcing themselves to eat grass, bark, whatever they could and they continued training when they could to stay strong. Their coats were also matted and they now were licking out the burrs and cleaning the others fur. She looked to the left near the kill pile. Guards were hanging around everywhere. She saw Delta walking across the clearing to her. He was so grown up now. He had matured into a strong black wolf.
She wagged her tail and he wagged his, breaking into a trot. He also looked strong. She was glad. At least her pups weren't looking so bad.
"Delta. My son.." she murmured. He rubbed against her lovingly.
"Mom..." they said nothing for a moment as they leaned against each other.
"Where is Sako?" she asked. Her voice seemed to be changed to her ears. Delta looked at the ground, a slight narrowing of his eyes told her it wasn't good news.
"He was taken to the Cave this morning..." he said after a while. Saharah felt tears well up in her eyes.
"Sako." she whispered hoarsely. "Why? What had he done?" she rasped. Delta said nothing. His eyes stayed on the ground. Saharah felt a chill run down her showing spine.
"What had he done." she asked again, her voice slightly clearer. Delta's voice was near a whisper.
"He faught a guard...three of them..." Saharah shut her eyes. This was an offence punishable by death. Hardly any wolves got taken to the Cave. The Cave was a cold, deep, stone pit. Many guards guarded it and you were not fed for three days. No food, no water and no shelter for three long days.
"What else...that's not all is it...Delta, tell me!" she coughed again, her whole body tensing as she did. Delta let his head fall.
"He killed two of them." he muttered.
"No....no, my son! They'll kill him!" she cried out, leaning against the tree beside her in misery. What had this pack become? Delta looked at her. There was nothing to say as she sobbed. He turned and left. He too was looking strong and fit.
~
Karuso looked at Oki.
"What have you decided to do to Sky, Rawen and Delta?" he asked.
~
In The Pens, Rawen glanced at Shur`tugal and Nanami.
"What I wouldn't do for an elk right now..." he said with a light laugh.
"You know they revoked the no-two-wolves-talking rule? Well listen up." he leaned in and shouldered beside them, drawing in the other five prisoners also.
"We're almost there. The revelation is close!"
(Sorry for God Modding some wolves of yours, you guys! Feel free to role play any of the prisoners. There may be up to two more wolves with Sako. RP any wolves in The Pens.)

Story So Far (SSF):
When complications hit Mistypack, Saharah (the alpha) decided to take instant action against the invading uprights, shortage of food and overall bad territory. They then put some distance between that territory (around 200 miles worth) even with the new pups of the alphas and betas. Long story short, an enemy wolf was recruited, then turned against them and became alpha by force. Terror and bad times followed his reign and a battle is currently raging.
Kuni and Kari's story can be followed at the Fresh Kill link below the chat box on the right sidebar.
An uprising started by Sako surged through the pack and they revolted against the guards. The battle is raging and wolves from both sides are falling. Who will triumph? Add your attacks to the battle by commenting in the newest post!

Shenzi closed her eyes, barely hearing Karuso, the words not sinking in. She lowered her head back to the ground, lying down where she had been before Karuso's announcement. She felt no need to talk; no one, not even Frazko, had heard her voice in over a half moon. She had receded into herself completely, doing nothing by sleep and occasionally eat.
Kurow raised his head happily. Finally, they could talk. Kurow looked around for Hikari, wondering if the rule applied to her. Despite the packs overall situation, he grinned.
(Ehhh! Kurow sounds creepy right there! 8\ )
(Remember to reply for Oki and Nanami. I'm waiting for Sky.)
Oki shrugged. "Let them serve me longer. Exile Rawen and Delta. I haven't decided about Sky."
Nanami didn't turn. "Your point is? Maybe Karuso was tired of being the only one talking."
(Smilinf because after moons if torture, finally something good happens)
Karuso frowned dissaprovingly.
"A simple exile? They are well able to take care of themselves at this stage. What about something...humiliating? Or something they'd rather die than do...?" he prompted. (Don't you dare take that in a bad direction. XD XD)
Rawen shrugged.
"Are you fine.." he murmured after a moment, not looking at her.
"You're insane, Hikari!" Endure hissed under her breath. She gawked at the muddied white wolf who was rubbing her fur against the bark of a tree, tearing her beautiful fur off in clumps.
"I don't care, Endure. Call me insane, but I hate that mutt's scent on my fur. He keeps sticking close to me and I'm sick of it." Endure's ears pulled back in slight discomfort.
"Have you told Kurow?"
"He's been out of it recently, and I haven't been able to even talk to him. Not to mention that Karuso just cancelled that stupid new law."
"You want me to tell him?"
"No!" Hikari swerved her head and glared at Endure. Suddenly her glare lessened until her eyes looked almost glossy. "I'll tell him. Karuso isn't taking no for an answer, so I really don't have a say." Endure looked sympathetically at Hikari. The wolf looked different right now.
Oki nodded. "I'll think about it. I have an idea or two, but with time I think I can perfect my plan." He smiles slightly, looking expectantly to Karuso.
Nanami snarled. "I'm stuck in prison again, been tortured day in and day out, watched a good friend die at the paws ov mh evil brother, and half starved to death. Im lovely, thanks for asking!" she turned away, her paws digging into the ground.
(I'm not sure how to reply with Kurow, so I'll do my best.)
Kurow spotted Hikari and Endure across the clearing and trotted over. He slowed when he saw their expressions, which were even sadder than before. "What's wrong?" he asked his voice filled with concern.
(Aww! Poor Hikari!)
Karuso scowled and gestured at the entrance.
"Fine. Leave." he turned and swished his tail, watching Oki.
Rawen took a pawstep back, running into Shur`tugal. He dipped his head in apology to her and silently eyes Nanami.
Sako paced the empty cavern. The stone was frozen cold to his paws and he had eaten nothing in quite a while. Thoughts of his siblings and friends flashed across his mind. So did Hikari. His pacing slowed till he was stopped and he gazed at the afternoon sky, cloud covered and looking dark with rain. He wished more than anything he could see Hikari at least once more before he died. He dipped his head and then brought it up straight to the sky as he howled, long and beautiful. A message to Hikari, telling her not in words, but in song. A song of love, not war like was going on around them. A song to reach her soul. Deep in his mind he prayed to Starpack that she could hear it, then he let the howl engulf him as it flowed through the forest...
(Woah Zoraz, lols, Sako's post is hard to respond to. I'll try my best, if I can.)
"I wonder." Endure replied casually, sending Hikari a quick glance. The white wolf returned a frustrated look of her own before Endure shook her fur and started walking away, "I'll leave you two alone for now." The speckled wolf trodded away, turning around a bush and into the forest - leaving the other two wolves alone.
"Uh, hey. So are you -" Hikari started awkwardly before being cut off. A long, deep howl resoundated throughout the bare branches of the forest. It was distant but she was able to discern the howl as Sako's. Each wolf had a distinguished howl, and the husky and mellow tone was definatly Sako's. Its vibrant song passed through Hikari's soul, as if Starpack themselves scoured through her heart to allow the message to penatrate her being. She felt tears prick her eyes, as the music played beautifully within her ears. She could feel the warmth of the notes pet her mangy fur and lessen the stress on her soul. IT was his last song. As like Reamo, Storm, and Flare before him, she felt as if his life story was nearing his end.
"Kurow...Sako- he is to be killed...right?"she whispered as the howl faded away all together.
(omg, i totally know what hikari will say to kurow!!! No one interrupt >+D)
(OH MY GOSH, SKY I LOVE YOUR FREAKING WRITING STYLE!!!)
The song died away audibly, but it still seemed to dance through the sky for a moment as it still surged through his soul. He stared into the sky for a moment longer. For the first time in his life a tear slipped down his face. He turned his head to the ground, away from Starpack's realm in the sky. The rocks in the pit dug into his paws but he didn't seem to feel them. He fell against the side, his mind engulfed in the image of Hikari...he knew she wished to be with Kurow and was forced to be Karuso's mate. Just recalling this memory his blood burned and he showed his fangs at the wall.
"That wolf Kurow had sure as Starpack better stand beside her.." he muttered, shaking his head and almost laughing. His eyes burned with a fire. The only kind of fire lit by impossible love and loyalty.
(This is soo corny..)
He shook his head, half smiling and then slid to the ground. Not even one day had passed but he felt his strength ebbing away like the life of an elk in the jaws of a wolf.
"Hikari..." he murmured, and shut his eyes.
(I feel like such a slacker. There's no way to be do poetic with my part.)
Kurow pricked his ears. He and Sako had never liked each other much, but he still felt a pang of sadness. " Yes...." he barked, hanging his head.
(You do fine, Oki. =) )
(Waiting.)
After her glazed eyes retained their normal state, the white wolf slowly lifted her head and set her blue irises on the gray wolf. With a slow, casual movement, she took a step forward and nuzzled Kurow's gray neck fur. Her eyes closed with pain as she struggled to pull out every ounce of courage she possesed within her soul. "I- I promise, Kurow. I'll make everything right." She paused as his confusion seemed to wash over her. With yet another breath, one that she had been holding in for so long, she whispered, "I love you. I love you so much- I can't lose you. Even if you don't feel the same way for me...I'll still love you, and I'll protect you. I promise." As she finished her sentece, her insides felt warm and giddy. It surprised her how much affection she held towards Kurow...but she didn't mind it.
Kurow blinked in surprise. "Hikari, I love you... I wish things could be different..." His heart pounded in his ears. If only he had been brave enough to say so earlier: maybe, just maybe things would have different.
For some reason, Hikari felt overwhelmed with so many emotions at once. Her heart pounded strongly against her chest, warmed with happiness and grief. She closed her eyes and pushed her nose further into Kurow's fur. "I'm so stupid...I should'nt have told you this now of all times. I'm so stupid. I'm sorry." She practically sobbed. It was hard. How could she feel so happy yet so guilty at the same time?
Endure wandered aimlessy around the outskirts of camp. She felt frustration at the lack of warmth and food that came from winter. She was even more sick and tired of the tribal gaurds. Mistypack had once felt like home, but now it was on the brink of death.
Kurow nuzzled her, trying to find the right words. "Hikari... Now I know that there's something worth fighting for... Maybe... One day...." he stopped, unable to think of anything else to say. His mind was filled with both happiness and hope, but a slight amount if fear threatened. If Karuso found out, would he hurt Hikari? Banish her from seeing the outside world?
Frazko walked through the camp towards Shenzi.
"Shenzi," he murmured. His fur looked dull rather than it's normal shine. His eyes were dark, but they lit up a little at seeing his mate.
"Shenzi" he repeated.
Frazko walked through the camp towards Shenzi.
"Shenzi," he murmured. His fur looked dull rather than it's normal shine. His eyes were dark, but they lit up a little at seeing his mate.
"Shenzi" he repeated.
Shenzi looked up, her motions stiff. "Hey, Frazko." She barked, her voice scratchy. She hadn't spoken more than a few words in the last half moon. She shifted to sit up, her fur covered in dust and grime.
Frazko nuzzled her.
"Oh, Shenzi...I'm so sorry. About everything.." he whispered.
Shenzi shugged. "Its that flea-bitten alphas fault, not yours..." she trailed off, her voice still raspy.
Frazko nodded, nothing to say and trotted a ways away and then came back, carrying a wadded ball of moss soaked with fresh stream water. He held it to Shenzi's mouth.
"Here," he murmured. "It'll help."
Shenzi blinked greatfully- Oki had banned her from leaving camp without a guard and from hunting parties, meaning that other than her daily water trip, she lay in camp most of the day. She lapped at the moss, the alomost able to feel the cool water spread through her body, rejuvenating her bones. "Thanks." She barked. "I needed that."
Frazko smiled. Again he nuzzled her.
"I'm so sorry about everything, Shenzi. You deserve to live like an alpha. Like the alpha of starpack..." he looked away. "I'm sorry I couldn't provide that for you." he murmured after a choked silence.
Shenzi flicked her ears slightly. "Yeah, Frazko, it was all your fault that Karuso's pack want to slowly kill us all. Your fault completely." She barked somewhat sarcastically, a hint of a smile crossing her face. She nuzzled him slightly.
Frazko shook his head, half glad she didn't understand, half saddened. He forced a smile for her and looked around the camp.
"Look what we've become...filth...slaves to the tribal guards and their filthy alpha Karuso..." he muttered with obvious disgust.
Shenzi lowered her head. "Sometimes I wonder if its worth it. Sticking around. Not pulling a Yeti and just walking out."
Shenzi lowered her head. "Sometimes I wonder if its worth it. Sticking around. Not pulling a Yeti and just walking out."
Frazko shook his head.
"No. We can't leave, for one, and leaving only shows them that they completely win." he pointed out.
Shenzi sighed. "Yeah, I know. Its just seems so hopeless..."
Frazko put his head underneath hers and lifted her head.
"We have to keep our head high." he murmured. "We're mistypack."
Shenzi let her head sag off, looking at the ground. "Mistypack. Mistypack died when Karuso set paw on the territory." she barked bitterly.
Frazko nodded but looked defiant.
"Yes-but one day we may be able to get it back." he said quietly.
Hikari almost smiled in Kurow's fur, "just maybe." With that, she stepped back from Kurow with longing eyes. "I should go now. I'm sorry."
Just then a bark was shouted across to Hikari-
"Hikari! Come!" Karuso barked, a sly grin on his face. He was in his den.
Hikari's ears perked at the sound of her name. She dipped her head to Kurow, avoiding his gaze. "See you."she said quietly before turning around. She then silenty made her way across the large clearing until she reached the alpha's den. When she stepped inside, her eyes narrowed in contempt. "What do you want, Karuso?"
Karuso dipped his head to her.
"I was thinking, my dear, whether you would like to lessen your problems?" he said, another sly smile crossing his face.
Hikari paused a brief moment. Confusion was perched and ready to spring out at her, but she kept a stoic expression and asked, "if you mean that you've decided to take your pack and yourself far away into a distant land so that I don't have to deal with you, then I'd be happy to accept the offer.
He turned from her, a faked serious expression on his face.
"No, actually. I was thinking more like, taking away your little love confusion and heartbreak by exiling Kurow!" he said, ending in a sharper bark.
("Confusion was perched and ready to spring out at her-" epic! I need to improve my writing style. >.> If you ever publish I book I'll buy it! Do you have any partial stories you've written? I'd love to read them!! If you do send them to the mistypack email. =)))) )

"Don't press me any more, Kaurso." Hikari snarled, half in shock. "Kurow has nothing to do with anything."
Karuso growled with a smirk on his face.
"You're my female now, Hikari. Don't make this difficult." he growled.
"I never agreed to this."Hikari snapped back. "I have my pride, you know. Every wolf has their pride - and its not something to be tarnished by such gruesome tactics!" Her growl resonated in the den. The usual calm that was carried on her shoulder vaporized in an instant. Nothing but bitter resentment remained. "Tell me why! I know too many of your intentions, but tell me why you chose to practically enslave MY pack! I had finally found peace in my life, but you've soiled it with blood!"
(rawwwrr. gotta do my hw so i cant really think about what im typing =P)
Karuso growled.
"You can't see what's in front of your paws." he said. "Power. That's what this pack has. It has good territory, that is now mine along with the cliff territory. I have more slaves to hunt for me--I have complete control over many wolves to do whatever I tell them. They can't protest--we are to many for you. You are now us!" his face glowed with a insane look of pride. His eyes gleamed.
Hikari felt queasy. The dark wolf in front of her seemed to grow more dark, more demonic, as his sanity was seemingly lost in a split moment. He was unpredictable. He was a monster. "A demon." she mumured under her breath.
Her mother once taught her the difference between a rat and mouse. She could now see the difference as clear as day as she watched Karuso. She felt her muscles tense before she whipped around and sped out of the den. So it was power. It had been that obvious. Now she must do something about it.
(I love the way you describe things!! "Her mother once taught her the difference between a rat and a mouse. She could now see the difference as clear as day-" ♥♥♥♥♥)
Karuso's insane grin seemed to light up his face in some twisted joy.
"And now you're going to help me get more." he hissed. "They trust you."
