Saharah stood next to the river and inhaled deeply before slowly letting it out again. She cleared her head and set in with determination.
"Let's do this," she said suddenly. She flung herself into the River, Kira close behind. Once they were across they shook themselves and waited for the others. Saharah sniffed and finally said;
"This is where they were taken, look at the prints--" she padded around and suddenly barked in alarm as she slipped and stepped in a huge track from a monster. Her eyes widened and she gasped as she realized just how huge it must have been to make this track.
(By the way, Shenzi....I have no clue who was supossed to be with her.....I know it was only yours and my wolves, though....make some up! XD)
Saharah sniffed at it and noticed that she would easily be able to follow it's scent--even though it reeked of uprights. She glanced around.
"Ready?"

Story So Far (SSF):
When complications hit Mistypack, Saharah (the alpha) decided to take instant action against the invading uprights, shortage of food and overall bad territory. They then put some distance between that territory (around 200 miles worth) even with the new pups of the alphas and betas. Long story short, an enemy wolf was recruited, then turned against them and became alpha by force. Terror and bad times followed his reign and a battle is currently raging.
Kuni and Kari's story can be followed at the Fresh Kill link below the chat box on the right sidebar.
An uprising started by Sako surged through the pack and they revolted against the guards. The battle is raging and wolves from both sides are falling. Who will triumph? Add your attacks to the battle by commenting in the newest post!

Leezor and Kamodo nodded silently.
Reamo nodded, but ran down lists of herbs in his head, knowing he'd most likely need them. "Lets go."
Kira stepped behind Saharah and raised her head high, waving her tail with determination. Saharah nodded and shoved her nose to the ground and began to sniff. She didn't have to sniff very hard because the tracks were clear to follow. She began to move in a fast trot as she ran on, sometimes having to double back a bit and find a trail when the tracks left. After a while they reached the edge of their territory. Saharah didn't hesitate leaving it, as no other pack lived here. She continued on, mostly sniffing the trail instead of watching it. She slowed to a trot as they neared a noisy area. Saharah froze as she reached a clearing.
"A BlackPath!" she gasped. (Thunderpath in the Warriors, I wanted to change it up a bit,) Kira's jaw dropped slightly as she stared at the huge path. The break in the tree's only allowed a slight bit of grass before the Blackpath spread out wide across their way and then there was some field and then forest on the other side. The Blackpath was at least ten wolf lengths across! Saharah backed into the forest quickly as she heard a roar towards her left. A large monster came hurtling towards them, but stayed on the path. Kira's eyes were wider than normal but she seemed mostly calm. Saharah did too, although she was extreemly uncomfortable being so close to one. She sniffed and tried to locate the smell, which she had left and cut straight to the road instead of the path it had made.
"Let's cross..." she whispered. "This path seems to continue across the other side..." she continued. She looked at the others.
Reamo flicked his ears, the blackpath making him nervous. He waited a moment, and dashed accross before a monster could attack. Leezor crossed in a smiliar fashon, dashing and waiting crouched on the other side. Kamodo went after Saharah and Kira, then began to dash accross. A monster seemed to materialize next to him, and his his haunched with a thud. Kamodo was thrown to the side, and lay on the blackpath.
Saharah yelped in alarm and ran back out, whipping around to snarl at anyone wh otried to follow before continuing and rushing to Kamodo's side.
"Are you okay?? Quick--I need to get you to the side!" she began to pick him up by the scruff of his neck.
Kamodo didnt stuggle, but went limp as he was taken to the side. Once he was puloled to the grass, he muttered. "I can get up." but he was barley heard. He stuggled to stand, and rose slowly to his paws, but his back legs shivered with weakness.
Saharah gasped.
"Don't strain yourself! You need to rest," she barked soothingly. She looked franticly at Reamo.
Reamo padded forward. "Lay down." he told Kamodo. He inspected his haunches. "Nothing's broken." he siad carefully. "But its, uh, bad."
Saharah looked confused.
"Wha-..? Nothings...what? How is it bad if..." she paused and shook her head. She looked at Kira.
"See if you can find any nearby herbs to help! Do you know any?" she asked quickly. Kira nodded and turned to the forest--quickly dissapearing into the trees.
Reamo inspected Kamodo a bit more. "Bone bruising." he muttered under his breath. "Herbs wont help. Its internal."
"Will he be okay?" Leezor asked.
"He'll be fine. He can walk now, but not far. He wont be able to help in the rescue." Reamo explained.
Kamodo spoke up, "I can get to the bushes over there." he spoke of a dense circle of bushes a bit farther away from the blackpath. "I'll wait there while you get the betas and Felicia."
Saharah shook her head.
"No! Uprights are coming closer and closer! Look! Every monster that passes slows down more and more! They'll find you, Kamodo! And we don't even know how far away our friends were taken!! There has to be a better way," she growled in frustration. Kira suddeny came bounding back through the trees at top speed. Her mouth was full of different herbs--all for pain.
"Can this help? Because, even if it doesn't; I found help!!"
(I have two plans--but if you want--one of them is that we could join up with Shining Pack for help, making that blog get active, or I could go with my secret plan-- :D)
"Who? WHO?" Leezor asked quickly.
Reamo took the herbs from Kira, and gave some tp Kamodo before she answered.
"I found a dog pack nearby! They are called 'Shining Sun Pack'. It's all dogs and no wolves but they said they would be glad to help us!" she barked with enthusiasm.
Leezor looked to Saharah. "Do you think we can trust them?" he asked.
"Do we have a choice?" Reamo barked.
Saharah thought for a moment.
"Reamo's right," she barked finally. "what choice do we have? He has to have help now. Come on! Show us the way Kira." she shoved her head firmly but gently under Kamodo and flipped him onto her back before facing Kira. Kira helped Saharah and then began to walk towards the dog pack.
Reamo followed, Leezor on his heals. "This could be very good, or very, very bad." Leezor remarked.
Saharah already knew this so she didn't bother to nod. Soon Kira barked and ran forward. Next to a boulder, which Saharah figured was the Border, stood a large dog.
"Welcome," he barked. "My name is Rico and I am the Alpha of Shining Sun Pack." he said as he gestured for them to enter the borders. Kira held back for a second but then entered nervously.
"Don't be fooled--we don't let every visitor in just because they need help--but Kira, I believe her name is, told us of your trouble. The uprights have bothered us too. We don't see you as weak--we only come to help as you were hurt by uprights. We are equals. Let no more be said." he barked with a firm tone.
Reamo stepped forward. "Do you have a healer, or a wolf that knows herbs?"
A male border collie came out of the forest near the boulder. A younger male Chesapeke Bay Retriver walked beside him. They both sat down near their alpha and listened.
A Merle Border Collie came over also and smiled at the newcomers. She glanced at Tell and then looked away--embarrassed.
"We have a healer--" Rico stated.
"Come with us to the camp and we can help with your friend," Chelsia barked.
KAMODO! His name is KAMODO! Saharah thought with an amazing amount of irritation. For some reason these dogs were getting on her nerves. Maybe because I'm a wolf...and they are dogs...is this even right to be doing?! Saharah wondered. They then began walking towards the camp, following Rico, Chelsia and the others.
Tell walked with them, smiling at Chelsia.
Amos, usually talkitive, was silent around the wolves.
Leezor was hesitent around the dogs, but Reamo didnt seem to care.
Once they reached the camp Rico gestured towards a den full of soft things to lie down on. Saharah carefully lay Kamodo down on it and then came back over.
"Um, what is you friend's name?" Rico finally asked.
"Kamodo," Saharah barked, almost sourly. Chelsia smiled at her.
"We'll fix him up in no time and you can be on your way!" Chelsia barked happily and friendly.
"Not that we're trying to get rid of you!!" she suddenly added, her eyes wide. Saharah nodded thanks and then asked for some time to discuss things with her patrol. Rico politely turned away and Chelsia walked over to Tell
Tell smiled at Chelsia.
Reamo didnt seem nervous about being with the dogs. He appeared to be calm, but every so often he glanced at the exit, making sure they could escpae.
Leezor was tense, surrounded by the dogs.
(Cont. Sorry--had to post that and get back to it later--)
"Should we stay and wait or leave now?" Saharah asked the small patrol. Kira looked grim.
"If we leave now we have a better chance of catching them," she barked thoughtfully. "But if we stay and wait, we'll have another wolf to help us when we do catch up with them. But they may be getting farther and farther away as we speak--maybe they are going to be killed--how can we know?" she shook her head in frustration. Saharah nodded.
"Should we vote?" she asked as she glanced around the patrol.
Leezor stepped forward. "I think we should go on. These dogs, well, it doesnt seem like they will hurt Kamodo, and if they do, our pack is a whole lot bigger. They hurt Kamodo, we can hurt them back."
Reamo nodded slowly, contemplating.
Saharah nodded but then shook her head.
"Kamodo...I know how much he wanted to help...!" she said sadly.
But what can we do..?" she sighed and then straightened up her shoulder. She seemed to be thinking of something as she said; "Life is full of dissapointments..." her eyes were misty but she shrugged off her own feelings and turned around.
"Rico, we want to continue on. The uprights could be many many mountains away by now, and we must continue," Rico nodded in understanding.
"We will make sure your f- Kamodo, gets good care and rest." he barked in response. Saharah thanked the pack warmly and then turned to Leezor and Reamo.
"Would you like to come with me to tell him?" she asked them. Kira nodded and looked at her companions.
Leezor cocked his head at Saharah's strange actions as she spoke, and sensed an overwhelming sadness in her. "Ill go."
Reamo nodded solemnly. "Wait, Saharah, you seem strangly...sad. And I mean more than just Kamodo's accient."
(Wow! Your good! Not being sarcastic.)
Kira sensed Saharah and Reamo needed privacy and so she nodded to Leezor and trotted towards the den Kamodo was in.
-
Saharah's tears finally spilled over and she hung her head.
"It's nothing--I'm just being like a spoiled pup. It's just...Yeti..." she attempted to stop the flow of tears but remained unsuccessful.
(Thanks!)
Leezor trotted off calmly.
Reamo cocked his head. He was a healer, and had seen and heard enough stuff he didnt want to hear in the past moon to last a regulaur wolf a lifetime. "Is something going wring with him?" he asked carefully.
Saharah shook her head.
"I just....I want pups!"...
It's out..I said it...now I sound like a fool...!
"Have you talked to Yeti about this." Reamo chose his words carefully.
"No. He doesn't want pups. I don't think....I don't think that.." she stopped talking.
Reamo smiled ever so slightly. "I should let you know then, Ive seen him watching the pups longingly sometimes while your out hunting or patroling."
Saharah looked wistfully.
"I know he acts like that, but...I don't think....i think he's....tired of our relationship or something!" she cried desperatly. "He doesnt act like the Yeti I once knew anymore.." she whispered sadly. (I know he probably does. I'm just twisting Saharah's mind. :P)
(Figured as much (; )
"I doubt that." Reamo barked. "Dont forget, he hasnt really been the alpha male for that long, and from what I can tell, the stress has gotten to him." He shifted his weight nervously.
Saharah was silent for a moment. Suddenly she rolled her shoulders, blinked a few times and put on a fierce expression.
"Enough of that, we have some pack members to help!" she barked. Kira had just returned and said that Rico wished them luck. Saharah smiled.
"Ready?"
"Wait." Reamo barked. "Saharah, well, I need towarn you first. Shenzi.... she well.....might have had the pups, lost the pups, going to have them very soon, or.....is no longer with us. The stress...." he didnt finish his sentance.
Saharah ony kept her severely determined look.
"She won't. I'll make sure of that,"
(sry, Im making this one pretty long, I have minimal time later today, so I want to get to my plan soon.)
Reamo nodded sharply.
Leezor nodded. "We should go." The rest of the patrol nodded, and the headed out.
The group trveled over stone, grass, and tiny creeks, following the tracks of the monster. Soon, they got to a point where the upright smell was overpowering. The wolves instictivly crouched, pressing their ears against their head. Following Saharah's lead, they slunk behind some bushes, and peered into the upright's camp- Three temporairy dens in a circle, with three cages in the clearing within them. The three cages were in a row, facing them. Frazko and Felica both were asleep, with plastic colored cloud-like things sticking out of their shoulders, and sharp chemical smell coming from the cloud things. (tranquilizer darts) Shenzi's cage was separated from the male's by a wall-like thing. She lay in her cage, moving slighty, and seemngly in pain. Reamo's eyes widened. "She's having her pups."
Saharah growled deep in her throat.
"Nooo!" she whispered as oud as she dared. Frazko leapt to his feet and crouched in the low den. He heard Shenzi's moans and he was wide awake.
"Shenzi!!" he didn't bother to try and hush his voice. Saharah was fine with that.
"SHE CAN'T HAVE HER PUPS HERE! THIS ISN'T WHAT SHE WANTED!!" she bellowed. (Can we both role-play the humans,?) Two uprights came out of one of the dens yelling loudly. Frazko had noticed them and was throwing himself at the side of the cage in desperation to get out, ,waking Felicia up. (Let's make this scene loooooooong!) Saharah snarled and yelled at the top of her lungs; "ATAAAAAAAAACK! FIGHT FOR YOUR PACK! FIGHT FOR YOUR FRIENDS!!! FIGHT FOR FREEDOM!!!!!" she flung herself forward and bit hard into the closest upright's thigh. It screeched in pain and battered at her head and body furiously. Saharah switched in an instant and went in for the throat, ripping at whatever she could.
Felicia woke up calmly yawning and barked for an upright to come, a third came out of another temporary den and opened her cage, she ran out and tried to open Shenzi's cage, as a sign asking the upright to open it. she then trotted over to Frazko's cage "Stop strugling, i can get you out, just stop strugling." she quetly told him then tried to open the cage to tell the upright to open it aswell.
Leezor dashed into the fight, launching himslef at the other human. He latched onto its arm, ripping furiously. THough it punched at kicked back, he ignored it, tasting it blood in his mouth.
Shenzi looked up, but was in too much pain to fully comprehend what was happening. She saw flashes of the battle: Saharah's biting at the upright, Reamo dashing across the clearing, the shocked look in Frazko's eyes.(Can we please play it out that he didnt know that she was going to have pups?)
Reamo ignored the human and dashed to Shenzi's cage, despratly trying to open it. He pawed the latch, until something moved and the cage opened. "We need to get her out of here!" he shouted to Saharah, before dashing over and despratly trying to open Frazko's cage.
(Sure! That's what I figured! :D)
Frazko suddenly threw himself at the door one more time and the cage flung open. He ignored anybody next to him but raced to Shenzi, shoved everybody out of the way and then came over to Shenzi.
"Shenzi! Are you okay? It's gonna be fine," he whispered in her ear as he crouched protectivly over her; ignoring the fact that he hadn't even expected the pups, and that there was a battle raging outside.
Shenzi moaned quietly. "Fraz.....ko...." she murmered. "I.......I dont think.....ill make it...." SHe seemed to be getting weaker as the minutes went by.
(AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKKKK!!!!!!)
Frazko shook his head fiercly as tears poured down his face. He gritted his teeth.
"Yes you will! You have too!..I can't live without you, Shenzi..." he gasped out as he pressed his face into her soft neck fur.
(DON'T DO THIS TO ME!!! YOUR FREAKING ME AND FRAZKO OUT!!!)
(Honestly, Zoraz, how could I kill her? She's my main wolf, my favorite. I COULDNT kill her!)
Shenzi layed her head down. Her body burned with fever, and her pulse was quick. A pup dropped into the cage beside her.
(Still! XD)
A upright suddenly reached in and grabbed at the small pup and started to pull him away from Shenzi. Frazko whipped around, pure, cold hatred showing in his eyes. He lunged for the upright's throat and time suddenly started to slow down...Frazko was in mid-air.....the upright had no time to show terror, even though everything seemed slow.....Frazko opened his mouth..........he scored a perfect shot, the upright's throat in his mouth......he landed on the upright--flinging him to the ground, and clamped down hard.......blood was pouring freely from the open wound and Frazko's muzzle was covered in blood....Frazko was glaring down at the upright while the upright's eyes showed pure terror and horror.....then suddenly they glazed over and he lay still......dead!
Reamo snached at the pup, putting him down at Shenzi's teats before the other upright could make a move. "Frazko! We need to get her out of the cage! Move the upright!"
Leezor growled his approval to Frazko's kill.
Frazko suddenly froze in realazation at what he had just done.
Now they'll come ofter us with more force....They'll go for Misty Pack!...They'll go for Shenzi! he thought wildly. He whirled around.
"We have to get her out of here!!!" he gasped.
Reamo motioned to the upright. "Move the body." he told him, keeping his voice calm. "Shenzi needs space."
Frazko snarled at the uprights who were now closing in. He grabbed the body and hurtled it with impressive strength away from him. The uprights grabbed the body and spoke loudly and excitedly but Frazko couldn't understand them. He turned away, still on guard, and looked at Shenzi.
Reamo pulled Shenzi out of the cage, and then the pup. He waited for a moment, and the next pup was born- a female.
Frazko was tense and waited with baited breath as he was forced to watch his mate moan with pain. He glanced back at the uprights who were taking the body to a monster and then at Reamo.
"How many more does she have?" he snarled fiercely. "WE DON'T HAVE MUCH TIME! DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY?" he bellowed without hardly waiting for him to answer.
"Two more." Reamo barked, and as by que, the last two pups were born-another female, then a male. Shenzi stopped moaning, but didnt speak.
Frazko barked at her and nudged her face gently.
"Shenzi..?" he whispered--afraid to speak more.
Shenzi opened her eyes slowly, looking at her pups. "Their okay." she said quietly. "Their all okay."
Frazko nodded eagerly.
"Yes. Their all fine! Healthy young pups!" he barked softly and proudly. He snared at another upright but the upright was already headed in another direction.
Shenzi nodded, smiling slightly. "Im sorry I didnt tell you I was expecting before...."
Frazko shook his head.
"I'm sorry." he whispered. He turned his head away. "I'm sorry you couldn't have them somwhere other than a upright den..." he whispered quietly, anger, hatred and sadness in his voice.
"Its not your fault." Shenzi barked quietly, her voice fragile. "They're healthy and safe. Speaking of that, what do you want to name them?
Frazko smiled gently at her.
"You do the honours." just then a upright reached in with a long pole with a weird loop in it and grabbed at Shenzi. The loop fell over her head and started to tighten.
"GRAAAAHHHH!!" bellowed Frazko as he shot out of the cage and at the upright.
Reamo shouldered the upright, making it drop the stick. He tried to loosen it from SHenzi's neck with his teeth.
The upright retreated with a yelp and leapt behind inside a monster, slamming the opening shut. Frazko snarled fiercely before turning with a bark.
"We have to get her out of here!!"
Reamo finnall got the loop off of Shenzi's neck."Do you think you can walk by yourself. Shenzi steached her legs. "Yes." "Saharah! Kira!" When they came, he barked, "Each of us willl carry a pup." He picked up the last-born male.
Frazko snarled at them to halt for a second.
"Shenzi, are you sure?" he asked. Kira suddenly came rushing forwards.
"I've been holding them off. They just went running away in a big monster...hey...! Where's Saharaha!?"
"Saharah?" Shenzi sat bolt upright.
Kira looked worried.
"The uprights....the monster!" she gasped suddenly. "And she's-" she stopped quickly and backtracked. "What if they took her?!" she barked. She glanced down at the newly born pups, now suckling.
Shenzi looked up at the four around her. "You four go get her. Ill stay here." she barked, her voice full of longing. It was ovious she wanted to help aswell, but her duty was for her newborn pups.
Just then Saharah came around the bushes, panting and heaving with exaustion. She grinned.
"Got a upright on the paw-" she was grinning at her achievment at protecting her friends when she noticed their faces.
"We though they had gotten you!" blurted out Kira. Saharah laughed good-naturedly.
"As if! The blunder-paws couldn't catch a crippled badger!" she snorted with laughted and Kira joined in. Suddenly Saharah came closer and she saw Shenzi and her pups.
"Shenzi..!" she gasped in awe and adoration. Frazko looked proud and happy. He grinned and smiled down at the pups and at Shenzi.
"Shenzi! They came..!" Saharah gasped happily.
Shenzi smiled. "They did." Now that the stress of it all was over, Shenzi was ehasted.
Saharah smiled at Frazko as he beamed with pride. Then suddenly her smile faded.
"But, those uprights, they'll be back. We have to get back to Mistypack...and even then........." Kira looked quizzical.
"Then what.?" she asked slowly.
"Then we'll take things one paw-step at a time!" Saharah barked in an attempt the be upbeat. "But Shenzi...and he pups..." she muttered slowly.
Shenzi looked closly at Saharah, and could see that she was worried, but decided against asking now. She stood up. "We should go."
"Are you fine?" Saharah asked-- Expertly flicking away her own worries, which she so often had to hide when she was the alpha. "You just had your pups!" she barked with concern. Frazko nodded in agreement.
"We can wait for a while, Shenzi. To let you rest."
"We should at least get away from the uprights." Shenzi barked, sounding confident. "I can rest later."
"Shenzi,-" Frazko was trying to be helpful but Saharah whirled around with a snarl and snapping jaws with sharp fangs that closed inches from his face. He jumped back in slight alarm and surprise.
"SHE'S FINE! SHE SAID SO HERSEF, OKAY!??!??!??!?" Saharah bellowed at him. She turned and stalked off a ways but paused, waiting or them to get the pups and follow.
Shenzi cocked her head in question. She had never seen her friend be so.... dominating, angry. She piced up one if the pups, and followed where Saharah had went, her single eye holding a determined look.
Saharah suddenly winced and stumbled, falling on the ground and whimpering slightly.
"Saharah!" barked Kira as she ran over. But before Kira could do anything Saharah stopped. She heaved a few times as she recovered from the pain and then she stood up. Her eyes were focused on something that wasn't there and were wide with fear. She stumbled to the side of a tree and vomited a few times. Kira was standing frozen to the ground with no idea what to do.
Shenzi put the pup down and ran over to Saharah. She eased her friend into a laying position, but after that had no idea of what to do.
Saharah didn't resist. She coughed a few times but then struggled to her feet.
"I'll be fine," she barked in a low tone. She smiled slightly at her firend.
"Thanks," she barked.
"Sit down for a few minutes." Shenzi's voice was calm, soothing. "We can rest for a few minutes before we move on."
Saharah shook her head.
"No. We must keep going," she barked as she shoved past her friend and headed towards home. Kira picked up a whimpering pup and carefully started after the Alpha.
Shenzi picked on the pups, but seemed tense with worry. She followed after Saharah.
Saharah plodded along and Kira trotted after, stoping every once in a while to pause and readjust the pups. Several times they stopped to let them suckle and rest from being carried, but finally they reached Shining Pack. (I can delete this and go slower if you want,)
"Kamodo!" barked Kira as she quickly handed off the pup to Saharah who looked delighted. Chelsia and a few other dogs welcomed them and admired the pups while Frazko looked on proudly.
"We've made it this far," he answered as a dog asked them if they had made it safely. "Although I think the uprights will be pursuing us and our pack soon..." he added slowly. "We'll take care of it though. We'll be fine." he barked, ending the conversation. Kira bounded over, eyes shining, to look for their pack mate.
Kamodo stuck his head out of a den, his eyes lighting up in surprise when he saw his pack. He galloped out of the den, stumbling only slightly. "How cute!" he barkeds when he saw the pups. "Congratulations, Shenzi and Frazko!"
Frazko beamed proudly.
"Perfectly healthy!" he exclaimed happily. "All of them! And how's your leg?" he barked. Kira grinned and then glanced at his back legs.
"Im fine now." Kamodo smiled. "You really think im going to let some monster get me down? I doubt it!"
"Ha ha!" laughed Kira. She was relieved that everything was fine. At least, everyone was fine.
Uprights. Thought Kira with hatred.
"We should be going," barked Frazko as he noted the pups squaling and Saharah looking sick again. They turned, thanked Shining pack and then headed off. After a moment Kira spoke again.
"What about the Blackpath..? And the pups..?" she asked cautiously. If Frazko was nervous he didn't show it.
"We'll do what we did before, only with even MORE caution and holding pups. How hard could it be, really?" he asked. He seemed to be reasurring himself instead of anybody else. Saharah nodded but didn't say anything. She looked desperatly at Shenzi and then turned away to stagger to the side and vomit again. She coughed a few more times and then straightened up.
"I'm fine," she growled to Frazko and Shenzi as they aproached her. She growled fiercely before turning to the Blackpath.
"Come on,"
Shenzi nodded, but decided to let it go for the moment. She turned to the blackpath, and icy talons of fear gripped her heart. She and her pups would have to cross the expanse of stone-like stuff, and she knew that if her pups were hit, even if they were being carried, it would be the end. She stood petrified.
((Sorry! I meant Frazko and KIRA. Didn;t mean to role play your wolf.))
Frazko stood, tail raised, chest out and head high as he glared at the Blackpath. He leaned against Shenzi.
"We can do it," he murmured. He took control of the situation. He placed the pup he was holding next to Saharah as she curled around it.
"Shenzi, you go first. Then Kira, you take a pup, and then Saharah. I'll make two trips." he abrked with authority. Kira nodded importantly and glanced at Shenzi. Saharah simply nodded a small bit while she smiled at the pups.
(No big deal!)
"I can take one." Shenzi barked quietly, knowing Saharah was most likely too sick to have the energy.
"No." Frazko barked at her. "I know you want to carry your own pups, but your already stressed. You need to use your energy in thinking about yourself and getting across the Blackpath without getting killed," Frazko tried to explain gently. Saharah nodded, feeling slightly in a better mood.
"He's right, Shenzi..Especialy sense..." she stopped and looked at where her friend's other eye had been. She felt another wave of sadness come sweeping over her as she recalled that terrible battle for victory and the ones who had faught for it.
Kazrah...I bet she would have loved to see Shenzi's pups.. Saharah mused, her eyes misty. (HA! No pun intended!)
Shenzi nodded solemnly. She turned and stood at the edge of the busy blackpath, swinging her head back and forth to look for monsters, her ears pricked. When the blackpath was clear, she gallponed accross, skidding to a halt on the other side.
Frazko smiled.
"Good job, Shenzi!" he barked as Kira bolted across. "Now, Kamodo!" he barked suddenly. He could hear a monster in the distance, but if Kamodo ran now, he would have plenty of time. Kira grabbed a pup and tore across the road, hoping her dash would make Kamodo follow.
Kamodo, in a rush of time, grabbed a pup and bolted across even though he hadnt been told to carry one. He made it accross with plenty of time, slowing to a trot when he reched the edge.
Frazko nodded in aproval as Kamodo calmly ran across and the monster passed a few seconds later. Now there was only two pups left. He gestured for her to go.
"And take a pup," he started to bark, but she had already taken one. She started across just as a monster came in view.
Shenzi waited tensly, her twopups that had already crossed at her feet.
Saharah noticed the monster and trotted faster--getting to the other side quickly and dropping the pup and Shenzi's feet. Kira sighed in relief and so did Saharah as the monster roared past. Frazko took his chance in the opening and picked up the pup and darting across. A monster hurtled seemingly from nowhere from the other direction. Frazko knew he wouldn't make it if he didn't turn back but instead of turning, he bunched up his powerfull muscles and gave a tromendous leap, landing safly with the pup on the other side of the Blackpath. Saharah gasped as she saw how close he had been to being killed.
"No problem," Frazko grinned as h panted slightly. Saharah suddenly remembered why she had always had a crush on him.
Shenzi sighed with relief. Everyone had made it, Leezor and Reamo had crosed farhter down the blackpath and were now trotting tawreds them. She turned to Frazko. "I thought of some name ideas, do you want to hear them?"
Frazko smiled and nodded with eagerness.
"I'd love to," he barked softly as they padded along. He picked up a pup (I believe there are four..?) while Kira and Saharah also held one, each.
Shenzi pickeds up the last pup. "I was thinking Kuni for this one." The puo she was carrying was the first born male. "Nanami for the one Saharah's carryinf, Kagu for the one your carrying, and Manpuku for the last one."
Frazko smiled through the fur of the pup. After a while he slowed down to a halt and barked for the others to halt also. Sense Saharah had been sick, Frazko had taken over the leader role and Saharah hadn't seemed to care.
"The pups need to rest with their mother," he barked as the wolves gathered to let the pups settle down. (What are the genders? & I'm role-playing Kagu, correct?) The pups suckled as they burried themselves in Shenzi's fur. Saharah looked away and lay down as the sky got darker. Kira lay down a ways a way from her and gazed at nothing, tired, hungry and exausted. Frazko stood up, taking on his responsibility.
"I'm going hunting," he barked before he leapt away silently.
(Kuni and Manpuki are males, Kagu and Nanami are females)
(100th comment!!!)
(Remember the little scene we did right after Shenzi and Frazko becam mates? Time to bring that plan back into action! Did you figure out my plan from then? If not, email me. I <3 plot twists)
Shenzi lay her head down her eyes drooping. She pricked her ears at every sound, fearing that if she let her self drift off to sleep, her pups would be taken and killed. Leezor and Reamo settled down farht away from the rest of the group, and kamodo layed down with a relaxed sigh. Shenzi looked up at the sky, watching the stars move accross the sky slowly. I forgot how much everything hurts after having pups she thought to herself.
(Gotchya.)
(WOOT!)
(Can't remember. Emailed you.)
Kira watched Shenzi through half shut eyes as she saw that she was in pain.
It was worth the journey.. thought Kira to herself. The uprights, the monsters, the Blackpath, the hunger....it was all worth it...
Saharah was lying on her side panting slightly and quietly. She winced and then inhaled deeply and let it out sowly. The panting slowed and she relaxed a bit more.
(emailed ya back. Im sure you'll get it now!)
Reamo padded over to Shenzi, checking on her and the pups. Just as he left, he heard Saharah panting. He looked over to her, and gasped. "Saharah!"
Saharah glanced up, the panting almost gone now.
"Yes," she said expectantly, pretending she knew nothing about anything.
Reamo lowered his head. Was he mistaken? "Oh, uh, nevermind." he turned around sitting nearby.
Saharah let out a silent sigh of relief.
Yeti! she howled inwardly. She wondered if she was right not to have told him. Why didn't Shenzi tell Frazko..? Why hadn't she told Yeti..?
What if he's angry...? What if he didn't really want pups...? she worried in her mind. Just then Frazko staggered into the clearing, a large buck dragging behind him.
"Look at this catch!" he barked with enthusiasm. Kira yelped with happyness before she tore at the deer with ravenous hunger. Saharah jumped up rather carefully and began to eat hungrily, also. The meat was warm and tender. Frazko was practicly starving but he was the in charge at the moment and he had to wait till the others had their fill. Without any words being spoken, Saharah and Frazko had traded the alpha role temorarily so Saharah could rest. Frazko wasn't sure what was wron with Saharah, and he figured she was just stressed out and exausted.
"Shenzi? You gonna eat?" he asked his mate with a smile.
Leezor padded up, eating hungrily.
Shenzi attemted a few bites, but guilt weighed her down. Why didnt I tell him before? Why didnt i just confess that this is my second litter? She decided it was time. "Frazko? Can I talk with you. Privatly?"
Reamo sat back, the shadows camofloging his black fur. He watched Saharah like a hawk. I knew it. he thought to himself. "Saharah?" he pulled her aside. Quietly, making sure no one could hear them,he whispered, "WHy didnt you say youy were having pups? And you could have told us that you were in labor and we would have stopped!"
Saharah looked at him in shock for a moment before looking at the ground.
"I guess your not a healer for nothing, huh..?" she almost laughed. "..Yeti doesn't even know.." she whispered finally. "I'll tell him soon! As soon as I get back. I can't have the pups here--I have to wait!" her voice was desperate and she looked anxious and frightened.
Kira ripped away at the meat, less hungry now, continually filling her empty stomach.
Frazko nodded, a sinking feeling in his middle as he sensed bad news coming. He held his shoulders back and walked forwards to his mate with a straight, patient, loving, understanding face that had won the hearts of so many wolves without him even meaning too--also what had made him a sort of loner with the other wolves who thought he was a show-off.
Reamo nodded. "Im taking you back to camp, now." he told her. "Frazko! Me and Kamodo are going to take Saharah back to camp!" He chose Kamodo because he didnt seem as tired as the other wolves. Reamo's own paws ached, his whole body sore, but his duty was to his patient.
Kamodo finished eating and trotted over.
Shenzi stuttered, "Well, um, uh-" she stoped, shutting her one amber eye. "Th-This isnt my f-first litter." She tensed, opening her eyes and looking at her mate, a tear sliding down her cheek.
Saharah's eyes widened in fear.
"DOn't tell them!!" she whispered franticly, complete desperation in her eyes.
Kira looked at Saharah with an odd feeling that she wasn't just sick. For one fleeting moment, she thought of pups, then noticed Saharah wasn't very big and shrugged it off.
Frazko took the news calmly, outwardly no expression, inwardly boiling with fury at whatever wolf had formerly been her mate.
"I almost thought so when I saw that wolf who said he was you son. He looked so much like you.....why didn't you tell me?" he kept his voice calm and stared right into her eyes, his face so expressionless it almost was cold and hard. "Why didn't you just tell me....?"
Reamo whispered to Saharah, "Their going to find out anyways by the time they get back to camp! WHat difference does it make? Anyways, Kamodo will understand, and he's the only one who will know for the time being."
Shenzi looked at the ground, pawing the dirt slightly. "i-I didnt want you to know. I-I thought you would hate me. M_my first mate...he left me as soon as I tolf him I was expecting...thats why didnt tell you...I thought you might be like him..but I was wronge." her voice was quite, sounding like the gray wolf was about the break down completly.
Saharah finally gave in.
"Alrght.." she relented. It was dark now, but there was a full moon and it cast their shadows aginst the trees and grass. A few distant howls were heard from other packs. Saharah glanced around her and slowly got to her feet. They had been in the clearing for at least three hours by now.
"My pack needs to rest, though! They've been traveling for days," she barked.
(I'm pretending it took them like, two days to track the betas...) Kira had come over, pretending to ignore what the subject was about and have no clue, she added,
"But if your sick, we need to get you back to the camp so we can help you," she said trying ot be helpfull. Saharah felt a strong twinge of irritation.
What? Do they think I'm weak now? That I can't handle myself?! she snarled inwardly. She knew she was just over-reacting and that they only wanted to help but with the journey, the pups and Shenzi and Frazko worried about something, she was too stressed to care.
"Okay...We'll leave when Shenzi and Frazko are ready," she barked. Then she said that they might as well know and she told Kamodo and the others that she was expecting pups. Kira yelped with happiness and remembered not to say anything like, "I thought so!" or something that might embarrass the alpha.
"I'll tel Shenzi and Frazko in a minnute," barked Saharah quietly as she watched the two young wolves deep in discussion a ways away from the group.
"Shenzi...I don't care what you've ever done....." Frazko paused. He was obviously angry, hurt, and upset, but he didn't show much on the outside. "I love you." he whispered as he nuzzled her. "That was in the past. I don't care about anything but the present for now." he added as he licked her face gently.
Kamodo looked at Saharah with respect, after all, it must be hard for her to admit it.
Shenzi nuzzled Frazko, licking his cheek. She turned and looked at the group by Saharah. "It looks like their waiting for us." She barked softly. "We should go wee whats up."
Saharah put her head on her paws and inhaled slowly and deeply.
("We should go see wee whats up" ? XD Goof! XD )
Frazko nodded semi-stiffly and let her go ahead of him. Blood pounded in his ears and before she left he burst out,
"Who was it?" with a barely detectible; threatening, hurt, angry, furious growl.
"you have time before thay come." Reamo barked.
"A loner, Cody." Shenzi barked, slinking back. As an afterthought, she added, "He's dead now."
Frazko glared at the air.
"You sure...that he's dead..? Or are you just protecting him..." he almost whispered. He had a normal whisper, yet so much feeling of anger and hurt filled it. (I keep adding anger and hurt...well, I guess he's pretty feelingfull. XD XD XD )
He didn't avoid her eyes, but he didn't look at them either.
"He's dead." Shenzi assured. "I have no reason to protect a wolf eho talked me into carrying his pups- which were never at the top of my list of 'things to do'- got me pregnanat, than left. He deserves WORSE than death." It was a bit ovious by her tone that she hadnet been sure she wanted her current pups, either. Softly, she added, "Im glad I have pups with you, now, but before....I just didnt..."
Frazko looked slightly shocked.
"I never forced you! You wanted pups! It was totaly your choice," he burst out. Instantly he was sorry he lost it.
"Shenzi..." he barked quietly. He paused. There was nothing more to say.
Shenzi froze."No! I mean with him! I wanted to be with you, have pups with you...." Her tone go quieter as she spoke.
Frazko nodded stiffly and then turned.
"Come on, their waiting for us." he said as he turned. He glanced down at her crying pups and smiled slightly before going to the deer and tearing into it's soft tender meat.
Shenzi lanced at the deer, but had lost her appitite even though she barely ate. She padded up to Sahrah, waiting fot whatever she had to tell them.
Saharah looked into Shenzi's eyes.
"You're troubled," she murmured with sympathy. "What's wrong?"
Frazko teared at the meat angrily, grabbing it and ripping it full off the deer.
"Nothing." SHenzi barked, smiling slightly. "What were you going to tell us?" Guilt and anger creeped in her mind, but she pushed it aside.
"Shenzi..what's wrong..? You can tell me." Saharah barked quietly. "Did you and Frazko.." Saharah paused, not really wanting to interfere, but feeling she needed to suport her friend. Suddenly her going to have pups, didn't sound happy, exciting or like any good news. Not if her friend was upset.
"Its uh, Ill tell you later." Shenzi barked, still waiting for Saharah's news.
"Shenzi...!" Saharah pressed gently. She glanced over at Frazko who was almost growling out loud.
"Were still together!" She told Saharah. "Please just tell me." her voice held desperation, it was ovious she wanted the current subject left alone.
Saharah dropped the subject and grinned.
"I'm going to have pups!" she barked quietly but happily.
"They're due tonight or tomorrow!"
Shenzi yelped in happiness. "Sahrah, thats great!" Looking at her friend, she could see the bit of pain. "Your starting labor, right?""
"Very soon.." Saharah barked. "I was just sick before. It's my first litter. This usually happens when a wolf has first litter I heard..your lucky you didn't go through this! And all your pups are perfectly healthy!" Saharah barked happily. (Wow! Made the whole first litter conversation without hardly meaning too! XD Ha ha!)
(Nice job!)
Shenxi frowned, her tail drooping. "Sahrah....this isnt my first litter....." her voice was quiet, fragile.
(Thanks! XD)
Saharah's jaw dropped.
"Wha-......who...?" She whispered. Suddenly it hit her.
"You and Frazko....Second lit-......Oh Shenzi! What did Frazko say?" she barked with sympathy.
"He understandably want to happy." Shenzi whimpered. " My now-dead former mate- he convinced me to have his pups, which i didnt want, got me pregnant than left when I tolf him I was expecting." he voice was filled with vhemace.
"He understandably want to happy." Shenzi whimpered. " My now-dead former mate- he convinced me to have his pups, which i didnt want, got me pregnant than left when I tolf him I was expecting." he voice was filled with vhemace.
Saharah's face was the picture of sadness but suddenly guilt trickled in.
"Shenzi...I'm sorry. I'm sorry you had to go through that." She said, guilt in her face, almost hidded by sorrow.
(I've decided that Rasho WILL play that part...)
"It was hard." Shenzi admmitted. "Raising two pups, with no way to get prey, mad all the time, it wasnt fun." She studdied Sarah's face closly. "Is sometyhing wrong?" she asked.
Saharah tried to smile.
"Nothing, I'm just upset for you."
She lied, her eyes hiding her true feelings.
"Just tell me." Shenzi barked softly. "After all, I just spilled my heart out about my life, I ezpect the same from you."
"I..nothing! I'm just stressed out," she barked hotly, turning away from her friend.
"I can guess." Shenzi barked, laying on her side to give the pups a chance to nurse. "This has been had on everyone." Her tone was miserable.
Uprights... Saharah thought miserbly.
"It's because of uprights," Saharah barked out loud to her friend. "If they continue to bother us and the pack, we're goin gto be forced to....to find new territory...That'll be hard on everybody.."
(Oh my gosh! Email me! The way the story and my life at the moment is goign this is incredible..! And I didn't even mean to! I'm writing not from my mind, but from my fingers. XD They know the way. You know what I mean?)
(yeah. 75% of the time, I dont even know what I typed!)
Shenzi tensed slightly. "Lets hope it doesnt camoe to that. I doubt my pups can make a long jouney."
Saharah's eyes showed pure determination.
"If it comes to that, then we'll find a way," she barked firmly.
"For now, we need to get some rest." Kira was over under a tree, resting and the others were also tired.
Shenzi nodded with determination, but felt some doubt. She and Saharah would be weak and tired for a while due to the pups, and Shenzi knew that there had been problems with the birth of her pups due to the space, that may come back to bite her later. If something happened while they were leaving- Shenzi didnt even want to think about it.
Reamo heard Saharah, and padded over. "Saharah, I think its best we take you to camp, now. With the pups coming, well, you saw hard hard it is to take care of newborn pups, and if they're bor out here, we most likely wont be able to get all of them back to camp." Reamo was oviously exhasted, but was ready to power on. He coughed slightly.
Shenzi cocked her head slightly. "Reamo are you...feeling okay?"
Saharah looked quizzicaly at Reamo also.
"Forget the pups," she said; as she attempted to ignore the pressing matter that labor would start very soon. "are you okay? And why should I get a better birth than Shenzi? She was forced to have her pups here and she endured it; so can I if it comes to that." barked Saharah fiercely. Kira had come over, yawning, and asked if he was okay also.
(PLOT TWIST ALERT)
"Im fine." Reamo barked quickly.
Shenzi looked Sahrah dead in the eyes. Quietly, she barked, "You want to have a better birth than I did, because the fact I had my pups like this, is going to quite literally kill me."
(.........!!???!!!!??!!!??!!??!!)
Saharah stared at Shenzi with horror in her eyes.
"What are you talking about??" she gasped.
(You'll see! I have a good plan for this one!)
Sehnzi remained calm. "Its a...sickness that happens to overstressed females having pups." She faltered slightly, blinking back tears. "It usually kills....pretty quickly....within a few moons...."
( 0_0...! )
Saharah froze with fear.
"You don't have it, though..!" she barked as if trying to convence herself. "Shenzi?" Saharah felt very confused and worried.
"Im impossible to tell for now." SHenzi barked sadley. "Well, theres a way...but who wants to live with a death sentance?"
Saharah looked calm suddenly. Her face was the picture of casuality.
(I guessed. I don't even know if that's a word..)
"I'm sure your fine," she barked calmly. "If I haven't heard of this sickness until now, then it must be pretty rare," she said in an attempt to comfort her friend.
(neither do I)
Shenzi turned away. "Im not going to get my hopes up. Its happened to alot of my kin, including two of my sisters, and my mother. Its...quite likely it will happen to me." Shenzi wished she didnt have to tell her friend this.
( XD )
(Wow...where is this plot going..?!??!?!?!?)
Saharah suddenly winced and gasped as pain coursed through her body. (Hee hee, off course.) Her eyes were wide.
"They're here!" she gasped out.
(Youll see where its going, but its going to spread out through a while)
Shenzi rushed forward, lowering her friend into a lying position. "Reamo!" She called.
Reamo leaped over, instantly grasping the situation. He looked around quickly, but saw no herbs.
(Ah--kk.)
Saharah felt extreemly embarrassed with Reamo standing by while she had the pups, but she was too winded to say anything and she strained and panted heavily.
Reamo could sense Sahrah's reluctence to have him there, and could tell that Shenzi wouldnt mind if he left. He told Shenzi, "Call me if theres any problems. Ill be of there." He motions to an area invisible due to the trees. "Theres nothing i can do without herbs, ayways," He turned padding off.
Shenzi nodded, but tensed. What if something went wong, and it was her fault? She shook the thoughs out of her mind.
Saharah had her eyes tight shut as she heaved with exaustion. Kira watched from a distance, tense and wary, ready to spring away to fetch Reamo at the first sign of trouble. Seemingly quickly, although many minnutes had already passed, a pup landed softly on the grass. (I hate the term "slid out" or "Slithered out") Saharah's grimace turned into a smile of total delight as she turned to lick it clean. (Oh my gosh. I just got all misty eyed. >BLINK BLINK!< ! It's Saharah's first litter..!! *sniff!*)
"It's a girl!" proclaimed Saharah, weak with delight as she flopped back on the grass panting.
Shenzi smiled, forcing death, Frazko, everyother thought out of her mind. "Congradualtions, Saharah." She barked softly. "Your first pup."
Saharah was too focused to reply. She strained harder as she panted desprately.
"Water-" she panted as she gasped in pain. Kira bounded up and ran to the stream. She was back in a moment with moss soaked with water. Saharah gulped it down thankfully. Suddenly she yelped with pain.
"Sa.....hara?" Shenzi asked nervously. She resister the urge to run, run from all the stress, her death sentance, her fighting mate, everything.
Saharah looked panicked but luckily she didn't start to bleed. (Chang eof plans..) She gasped in pain again and another pup slid out. This time a male. Saharah panted a moment before licking it clean and dry. She looked pleased but exausted. Kira was tense.
(Ooh! I have a really good idea for the Shenzi thing!!! She starts being in pain at wierd times, and is SURE she's dying(like its the same symtoms) but you'll see what it really is! Although I bet you can guess qhat it is)
Shenzi was tense, smiling for her friend, but glancing back and forth. (SHe really has a bad histry with pups...shes either completly on ehr own or attacked by humans.) She looked back to her pups, sleeping in a huddle a little ways away.
(Oooh! Cool!...can't think of...hey! Poison? Another..>*GASP*< more pups??)
Saharah gave a huge shudder and then lay still for a moment, as if dead. Another pup finally arrived. The birthing was going quickly and very well, for the stress Saharah had. Saharah gazed at the pup as she panted.
"Another male," she barked with pride. About fifteen minnutes later another pup entered the world--this time another female.
Saharah rested for a while before licking the pups and sniffing them gingerly and lovingly.
"That's all of them," she murmured. Kira happily congratulated the Alpha, her tail waving. Saharah had recovered very fast from the birth but she was still very tired, although not nearly so stressed. She suddenly glanced at Shenzi with slightly worried eyes and then back at the most recent pup--the small female. She then scooted it closer to her protectivly as it gave a few squeaks of protest and then began to suckle. Kira knew better than to blurt out some sentance runts of the litter and so she kept her opinion to herself abou tthe small female pup. She glanced at Shenzi's worried face.
"Shenzi..? You okay?" she whispered as she came close to her.
(Sorry I went a bit fast, you can like, backtrack and say what Shenzi said about the last pup or something--I just wanted to get it over with. And as a random question--wouldn't Shenzi be protectively ying down next to her pups? Or is she not because of her bad history thing..?) :)
("EDIT")
Frazko (this whole time,) watched from a distance, staying away from Shenzi so he could cool off. He congratulated Saharah warmly and then turned away to the carcass of their meal and gnawed at a bone with vengance.
(The pups are only a few feet away, and their all asleep. She can pretty much always see them.)
Shenzi smiled, congradulating the alpha. "Yet will be so proud when he sees them!" she barked. Indide, though, her mind was still racing. How would they get all the pups home? WHat would happen to both herself and Saharah? AND Reamo? Would Frazko ever forgive her?
Reamo padded over to Saharah, congratulating her, and checking over the pups to be sure all were okay. He looked worse than before, but was trying not to show it.
"Frazko," Leezor barked, padding up to rampaging male, "Is everything alright?" His voice was calm, colected.
Frazko's eyes flashed but his oice was calm.
"Yes. I'm fine--you should be asking Reamo!" he suddenly barked as he noticed how sick the other wolf looked. "What's wrong with him," he muttered with concern as he walked over to the healer.
"Reamo? What's the matter?" he asked.
Saharah was focused on licking and smiling at the pups but after a moment she suddenly said;
"How will we get them home..?" Kira started to mention going all the way back to Shining Pack but then decided against it quickly.
"We're probably three miles away from Misty Pack borders..." she said as she sniffed the wind.
"Nothing." Reamo turned to Frazko, sniffing slightly. "Im fine."
Shenzi though for a moment. "There are eight pups, and 6 of us, but I dont think Reamo or Sahrah should carry any, so me, Leezor, Kira, and Frazko will take buck my litter, and Reamo can stay with Sahrah and her pups. Then ILl bring some wolves from camp back here, and we'll get everyone else back to camp. Ill make the trip twice."
Frazko swiped up a pup without hesitation and waited for the command. He did it gently and the pup barely made any protest.
Saharah nodded but hugged her pups closer.
"Why shouldn't I carry one..?" she asked slowly.
"Because you're exhasted." Shenzi barked. "We all are." She herself was alomst asleep on her paws, her whole body ached, and her breath was short. "But someone is going to have to stay with four of the pups anyways."
Saharah looked worried.
"I want Yeti.." she whispered to herself, her mouth hardly moving. "I feel like a lost pup in another wolf's territory..." She then felt stupid for saying it out loud and suddenly she wished she had never spoken. She ducked her head as her face felt like it was on fire. She gave the pups a few licks as they curled up and slept soundlessly.
Shenzi's expression softened. "Ill be back...as soon as I can. Ill bring Yeti." She waved her tail nervously. Though she made the trip back sound easy, the she-wolf was exhasted and afraid she'd be to tied to even make it to camp.
Saharah forgot her embarrassment.
"No! He has to stay with the pack!" she barked.
"Frazko will stay with camp." Shenzi barked.
Saharah suddenly understood and she nodded slowly, not eager to part with her precious pups.
If Frazko didn't like the arrangment, he didn't show it. As Kagu woke up he grinned and nuzzled her softly, making low soft noises while she gave small squeaks of protest at the colder long fur touching her short fur that was warm from layin gnext to her littermates.
Kuni squirmed slightly, waking up to his littermate's sqeaks. He opened his eyes for the first time, blinking in new light, the first thing he sees- his fathers face.
Reamo spoke up. "Shenzi, I dont think you should make the trip twice.?"
Shenzi wheeled around, looking at him. "And why not?"
"You think Saharah tired?" Reamo asked. "Have you thought about yourself latley? You have your pups, them immeadiatly are running, with Saharah sick. You come here, fighting with Frazko, worrying about your pups, your friend, your pack- everything. Youre running yourself into the ground."
Frazko gasped as the Kuni opened his eyes.
There's something special about him...about all of them.. he mused in amazment. He grinned at the small pup and nuzzled them all.
Saharah felt angry for her friend and also indignant.
It's none of his buiness if they faught!! she snapped inwardly. She glowered at Reamo for a moment.
Shenzi turned away. "Im going, no matter what you say."
Reamo said nothing.
Kuni blinked, nuzzling his father. Nanami and Manpuku stirred next to him, but neither woke.
Saharah calmed herself down till she was only just looking at the Healer.
"Reamo, the trip has been so hard on all of us," she sighed. "I say that we travel as far as we can until one gets tired and there we stay, then whoever has enough energy and is NOT forcing themselves, can go for resources and we continue to travel when we can." she said strongly as she lay next her her pups. Kira nodded.
"Yes, Alpha.." she murmured as she dipped her head in respect.
Frazko glanced at Shenzi and then straightened up and walked away from the pups.
Reamo nodded approvingly, coughing slightly.
"Are you sure you can travel?" Shenzi asked Saharah carefully.
"I'm fine," Saharah said warmly. "It was a smooth delivery, I just wann get back to my mate.." she said quietly--secretly dreading going back.
Shenzi felt a pang of sadness for Saharah. She hadnt had any support from her mate, while Shinzi had Frazko supporting her. SHe hoped for her friend's sake that Yeti would understand. "We'll be in camp soon enough." She barked softly.
Saharah nodded, inhaling deeply. She glanced at Frazko and then quizzicaly at Shenzi.
Shenzi said nothing to Saharah. "I think my pups -well, Kuni at least- can walk, for a little bit."
(ALREADY????)
Saharah looked surprised. (Their um...like, 3 days old...!)
(She's completle fooling herself!)
Shenzi bit her lip. "Or I can carry an extra pup on my back."
(Ah,)
Saharah stood up, to the dismay of her pups.
"We need to get going," she barked. Frazko snorted almost inaudably and stalking past Shenzi, picked up two pups, gave one to Kira, and picked up another one so he held two in his mouth and Kira held one. Frazko ignored Shenzi and turned to Saharah. Kira ducked her head and picked up the last pup with slight difficulty.
Shenzi carefully put the largest pup, Kuni, on her back. She picked up two of the other pups in her mouth carefully. Though she appeared calm on the inside, inside she was crying. Frazko was completly ignoring his, and that hurt her beyond belief. He tried hard not to shaw emotion.
(No wait, I meant he picked up Shenzi's and Frazko's pups...Oh well--this is better for the plot! :D)
Frazko helped Saharah get up and figure out who held what pup and then frazko had Saharah place the pups on his back so they wouldn't fall off. He turned to his pups, saw Shenzi had them on her back and started to turn away when he stopped for a moment. He then turned back gave a few pups to Kira to hold on her back and picked up two pups in his mouth gently fro Shenzi's back.
It wasn't her fault.... Frazko was thinking. He knew it. He wasn't mad at Shenzi, he was mad at the wolf who forced her. It just came out as being irritated at Shenzi.
He looked deep into his mate's good eye, remembering again why he had wanted her for a mate--she was gorgeous. Her sparkling silvery, grey fur with tinges of black and a hint of possible brown, her plummed tail, her smoothly curved body giving her grace and skilled movement.
"Shenzi...I'm sorry.." he murmured after a moment. Pure love showed in his eyes, along with apology and acceptance.
Shenzi looked into Frazko's eyes. "Im sorry for not telling you sooner." She barked softly. Selfconsiously, she wondered if anyone was watching. She hoped not, that this moment could be private, just for the two of them to share.
Saharah had sensed Frazko had somethign to say and she looked away and spoke quietly to Kira, to divert the attention to the two wolves.
"Are you ready to go," Saharah was asking.
-
Frazko nodded and inhaled deeply.
"I'm not mad at you, Shenzi. I'm just angry at the wolf....who..." he shrugged and looked into her eyes again. "It's over. Forgotten, okay?" he smiled as he licked her on the cheek and then picked up the pups again. (Whoo! Over!)
(We keep torturing these two)
Shenzi licked him on the cheek in return, and whispered, "Its over. THe past is te past. And now, we have four perfect pups who are just waitiing to see their home." SHe put a pup on her back, and picked up another.
(Ha ha! So true!)
Frazko smiled warmly at her and waited for everybody to get settled. He had a few pups across his back who, thankfully, asleep and so they didn't wiggle. The other wolves helped carry Saharah's pups and then they all began to make progress towards their territory.
Misty Pack....Home!
Shenzi smiled. Soon enough, she'd be in a warm dry den, able to nurse her pups and not have to worry about how to get home or anything else. She almost skipped in pleasure when she smelled the firmiliar scents of the borders.
"Almost there! I thought for sure we'd have to stop for a rest somewhere," barked Saharah happily. She noticed she and Shenzi had a surprising amount of strength left and she smiled happily.
"We're on the edge of the borders!" Kira called out, running a little ways ahead gently with a pup in her mouth.
Shenzi put down a pup for a moment, and let out a howl, letting the camp knnow that the potrol was home.
At camp, Yeti was in the middle of grabbing a quick bite to eat when he heard the howl. "The potrol is back!" he backed to the camp, before letting out an equailly as loud and joyous howl in return.
Shenzi smiled; Yeti knew they were coming. They were home.
Blaze and Shade's head's flew up as they heard the howls of the other members.
"They're back!"
"The betas!" happy barks echoed across the clearing as wolves ran to meet them.
"Yeti!" barked Saharah happily. She nervously wondered if he would except the pups.
"Sahrah!" Yeti ran forward, snuggling his cheek against hers. (Wolf hug. aww!) "Im so glad your safe." he murmered. "I was so worried..."
(ikr! |:)]
Saharah pushed her nose into his fur and murmured back,
"I missed you so much..." after a moment she looked up.
"Yeti.....I had your pups!" she said, with a grin. (Let's not be to straight forward or anything... XD)
(Nah, straitforward would be BAD XD)
"Really? Thats amazing!" Yeti exclaimed happily. "Have you named them?"
(Now IM becoming completly strai-forward. I blame you, jk)
(Ha ha! Oh well,)
Saharah sighed in relief.
"Mostly," she said. (I need some time. I'm not positive I'm keeping these names I have...)
